Being my first blog post of the year, it is pertinent to wish all my readers a very Happy New Year. What better way to start the year than over a virtual cup of coffee to catch up on all my life happenings.
Today I join Deb and Coco on the Ultimate Coffee Date monthly link-up with them and a whole crew of other bloggers.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that….
2017 was a great year for me. It was a year with the perfect amount of highs and low. My highest being completing my first (and second) half-marathons. It truly showed me my potential in seeing something through and shunned any insecurities that I had about myself. It was a year of ‘It’s now or never‘.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that….
2017 was a really good year in spending quality time with family. A nice 3-week summer time with my family visiting me in Baltimore and another 3-week vacation during Thanksgiving when I got to visit them, back in Oman. If you’ve never heard of Oman, it’s this paradise in the middle east.

2017 was also the year when I celebrated one year on my blog. I started it for fun and look where it brought me. Little did I realize that writing was one of my passions and something that flowed through me (apart from days of writer’s block, of course). It helped me forget the world around for a while when I immersed myself into a piece. 2018 is going to be the year when I get back to posting once a week, as opposed to once a month.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that….
2017 was the year I let go of my fear of meeting new people and decided to meet a whole bunch of them. Not just normal ones, but super weird ones who think waking up at 4 30 am to workout at 5 30 am every Wednesday is pretty normal. The ‘workout’ part of November Project is so irrelevant. It’s where I realized the importance of community. It’s where I realized the power of a small shout out by a total stranger. It’s where I realized that each one of us are fighting out own battles and struggles. The least we could do is give someone an extra nudge. July 5 was the day I jumped the gun and decided to #justshowup.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that….
2018 is going to be no less! It’s going to be awesome, I can feel it. Because one thing I have realized is that it’s all in our hands to make a change. It can seem overwhelming, but it’s baby steps that shall get us to where we want us to be.
Wrapping up this post with a 2017 round up of my favorite Instagram moments of 2017. Thanks to #2017bestnine feature for it! Wishing you all a fun filled new year 2018!

Thanks Kim. I am inherently a morning person. But it’s always been me and a nice cup of hot coffee in my PJs. Haha.

You look so happy in your finish photo at your half!
It’s really hard to join in a group where you know no one — kudos! And sometimes it’s really rewarding, too.
Here’s to great things this year!
