It’s no secret that the Philly Love Run holds a special memory for me. It was the stomping grounds where a renewed me was born. It’s been about 6 months since I ran 13.1 miles at Philadelphia as my first half marathon and yet, even today, I get goosebumps thinking about the whole experience. The race gave me fresh directions in life to look forward to, closure to past events that bothered me, renewed belief in my abilities as an individual and above all, an attitude to look at life in a new light. If you haven’t already, you can catch my race recap here. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you earlier, but the recap is a marathon of its own.
Reasons To Run The Philly Love Run 2018:
1. Flat and fast course!
If you’re looking for a nice flat course to kickstart your spring running with a shiny new PR, the Philly Love Run course is perfect for you. Starting the race on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway is a sight of its own. The race sends you through some of the historical sights in Philadelphia – the Art Museum, Schuykill river, the Rocky Steps, Eakins Ovals, to name a few along with some good crowd support. I know that’s what got me through some tough miles.

2. We Love Swag!
When they call it, “The Race That Loves You Back“, mind you, they are not kidding. Let’s start with free race photos (yes – all of them), premium technical shirt, a humungous race medal, a nice mug to caffeinate your soul, a vanity bib, free training plans and awesome finisher’s party. Need I say more?

3. Love Is In The Air!
Being my first half-marathon and a race of such magnitude with about 10,000 runners, I was really intimidated. I didn’t know what to expect although I had read the website roughly about a million times. But, once I was there, I felt so much at ease. The whole atmosphere was chill, everything was well organized, the volunteers were more than just helpful and the crowds were absolutely fantastic. I didn’t feel one bit like a newbie. I felt welcomed! It’s called Philly ‘Love‘ Run for a reason.
