Walk It Out

In the fall of 2014, I decided to go for a walk with a friend after a long day at work. This walk turned out to be a blessing in disguise in my life – to walk on the path towards a fitter me. After walking for about 15 minutes may be, I was huffing and puffing. Emphasis to be placed on ‘walking’. All I did was walking up some mildly elevated roads. No running whatsoever. That’s when my thought process was triggered. If I am huffing at age 24, how am I going to be when I am 64. That one day changed my life, or at least it was the beginning of my attempts to change my life. And that friend, was this fit gal called ‘Komal Sampat‘ who was also, this adorable friend who didn’t laugh at me or make me feel any less of me during my “huffing” phase. With her I ran my first ever 5k and she did give me loads of tips on running. After all, I didn’t even know that 5k stood for 5 kilometers. Wondering what the ‘after’ part of this story is? Did I tell you that I LOVE my new purple fitbit alta?

The walk on that fine fall day changed my life and today I wish to share that joy with you. I believe the best way and probably, the easiest way for anyone to begin their fitness journey is to walk.

Today, Ponder ‘N’ Wonder is hosting it’s first ever fitness event titled – “Walk It Out“, a 30-day walking streak.

 

Event Details:

What to do?
Commit to walking each day for a minimum of 30 minutes. Speed and distance doesn’t matter at all. All that matters is you did something than nothing. Anyone with any fitness level can join.

Start Date:
The event has three start dates that you can choose from depending on your schedule. Of course, your end date will be 30 days ahead of your start date.

  1. April 25, 2016 (Monday) – Yes, that is tomorrow! As always, all diet and exercise start tomorrow.
  2. May 1, 2016 (Sunday) – Isn’t it nice to start on the 1st of a month?
  3. May 2, 2016 (Monday) – Missed out on starting on the 1st of the month? Well, Mondays are a good day to start too.

    That is awesome! I am just like you.I would go breathless after climbing steep roads some months ago.I began to eat healthy recently and began walking at least 10,000 steps daily whether on the treadmill or while going to the market or downtown which is about 4.5 miles. Slowly and gradually I am feeling more fit and building up stamina for maybe a future “marathon” in life 😀
